Scrappy's

Now I have gone fairly regularly now to Scrappy's to recycle cans for Church. The church is trying to raise money for kids to go to camp. Now I think that recycling cans is a nice effort to be stewards of the earth just like God instructed us to do since the beginning of time. I however don't think they raise enough. I figure that per year, the 'Cans for Camp' fundraising effort raises enough to send 2 kids to camp. Now I think that is pretty great. That's over $300 dollars. So today, when i went and recycled 40.6 lbs of cans for 40 cents a pound. I saw the mascot. Now when i saw this guy, I had said, I have to put this on my blog. After we need to support unions when we can. Scrappy's is American Iron.
So thanks for the

and the
After all, saving our own little part of the earth with what we can do,
is the purpose of this... life

Things I wonder about

Why do women want to be cuddily most of the time? Why can't I finish a project all the way through without two separate times to complete it? Am I ever stop being such as a smart (you know what)? Will I evolve my marriage into something better? Will I ever get more physical fit?
Mature? Figure out why certain things happen?
Truthfully, I don't know. I figure time sorts out most of these things. Evolution of being. It is a natural thing to do, right?

Father of a pre-teen son

It happens every few weeks. My cell phone rings. Now no big deal, right?

Well, one would think so but one does not know my life. Now putting this into context. I need to set a few words straight. Complaining. Telling the facts is different than this particular word "complain". But truly I am expressing a point of pain for myself. My son is my joy and a source of pride and happiness. A fine reason to have kids. Now I figure you are anticipating a 'but'. And you would be right except I don't at this point to detail the 'but' of being a father to my son. How then are you suppose to know what is going on? You don't right now anyway will know what is going on. People develop at different rates and maturity is something to be desired of most adults and as most of us adults would say 'non-adults' alike. Maturity is something developed with guidance. Do I have a good example of how to be a good Dad? Not from my father and most likely not from yours as well. What does a father do when raising kids that messes us up so bad? I am sure my son will think the same thing when he is older. There is no handbook, no set rules, and luckily sometimes we as fathers have models from other men around us to draw upon on the "do's" and "don'ts" of raising kids. If you have kids, my advice is to love them and make sure they know it. Don't spoil them. Teach them responsibility and that to get anywhere you have to work for it. Those who don't manipulate the system and more than likely have had previous parents in position of power in the community or have more money to buy the opportunities most of us will not get. So here are some catch phrases I have used.

If you think I am cruel, just wait for the world to be cruel.
I love you.
Responsibility is something earned. So is respect.
Life will be unfair and people will bully, discriminate, and push you around. Develop thick skin and let it roll off of you.

Now I know there are plenty more but for right now, I will trod on into the many purposes of my life which one is being a dad, father, a Georgie.

Justice for the poor

Now most of us would agree that everyone deserves justice. Fair and as impartial as it can be justice. Now most of us know also that those who are rich usually can hire lawyers to circumvent justice by finding loopholes or clauses or appeal to some archiac law that bolsters their case. I wonder if Murdoch will see more than a couple years in prison. Or the Enron execs will spend the rest of their lives in the hole. We are in a whole lot of trouble. That starts with T that rhymes with P which stands for prostitution. Now put this in a file labeled child.

Child prostitution happens too often. Any time it happens IS too OFTEN!! Why this sudden outrage? Well, it's been festering and last weekend burst the puss bubble on the brain. Gross, but got ur attention. Context: Chaperoning a senior high school event for church with my wife. The theme is the same as this blog's title. We learned about the International Justice Mission. Basics: Too many people enslave other people. Too many people visit foreign countries and want 'sex acts' from girls as young as 5.

Thanks for returning to the blog after throwing up in the toilet. Okay, I will wait a few more minutes. The basic question is "What are you going to do about injustice in the world?" The Godhead does not want you to lolly-gag around and do nothing. So do something. I hope I can. After this seems like a good purpose to add to the purposes we are to fulfill in this life.

-It's a vicious cycle and then we live

Now anyone reading that title will go What is he talking about?

Any of my facebook friends might know this is one of the familiar sayings of a co-worker, Joyce.
She is 70 years old and still works. She has been a widow for 40+ years. Has numerous kids, grand kids, (they bug the hell out of me, but that is life, she always says). Now I wonder why I qualify her into the previous mentioned categories but I do. We all do this. Hey, I talked to so-and so. Follow-up question, "Whose that again?" Then one describes either a physical quirk about them or physical characteristics about that person. As many of you don't know, I hate categorizing people. Who is George? He's 30something, married, has kids, smart aleck. Many have told me I am a pain in the keester. I shrug it off. I like to make things lively. Don't know what I am talking about. Ask Joyce. That is right. You don't know Joyce. Your misfortune for sure. Some words to describe: gumption, spry, sassy, say-it-like-it-is, loves CSI crap. So since most of those who might end up eventually read this and not a facebook friend. Here are some favorite sayings.
Life's sucks, and then you live - J Lockhart
We work 2 pay our way 2 get 2 work. It's a vicious cycle - J Lockhart

Well, I hope to continue to improve my self.
Been failing lately but hopeful. After all, that is who I am. Trying to make the most of this life.
After that is one of our purposes.
